07/29/2011
this is a great basic recipe, I use this all the time, however...I add together in carrots and celery and as well melt information technology in my crock pot. I add the biscuits to the crock pot immediately and stir them in. The volition float to the summit and also dark-brown!
08/26/2011
This is so easy and simple, dELISH! I boiled the chicken then put in crock pot and added celery and carrots, a little pepper and onion powder to gustation. I added the biscuits right into the crock pot and stired in. yummy!

I really, really wanted to dearest this, only I didn't. My favorite comfort food is Southern Craven and Dumplings. (And, at least where I come from, we don't use veggies, etc.; information technology's pretty much craven cooked in water/stock with a little celery, onion, table salt and pepper. And then the chicken meat is removed from the basic, fat, etc. and returned to the pot with the strained stock. Dumplings are fabricated with common cold h2o, rolled and cut into strips.) And then, I wasn't looking for veggies or anything, just this was withal a huge miss for me. I don't know exactly what I didn't like well-nigh it. Perhaps there was too much cream of craven soup? And, the biscuit dumplings weren't correct, even cooked they were besides puffy and mashy. Maybe if I'd rolled the biscuits and then cut them and reduced the cream of chicken soup to ane tin can? I'm just not certain. Anyway, I'm glad so many others have loved this recipe - only wish I felt the aforementioned.

I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out bully, my only mistake was that I bought the Grands Biscuits so they were twice as big and with ii cans they soaked upward virtually of the sauce. We had family in boondocks when I made information technology and everyone loved it.
09/06/2011
I idea this tasted not bad, as did my husband and eighteen calendar month one-time. It was unbelievably elementary! I mixed the cream soups amd broth with chicken, spices and veggies in the crock pot for a few hours on high, then turned it to low, added the biscuits (1 16 oz can), and let it cook some other 3 hours. Information technology was wonderful!
08/17/2011
Made this terminal night and everyone loved it. I added a bag of frozen mixed vegetables. We will be making this again.
11/07/2011
Loved it!. And then simple and so crawly. I used the frozen dumplin strips, added an extra tin can of broth and 2 craven boullion cubes. This was delicious! Family loved it. Great hearty soup. Awesome for dank nights. I actually thought this was better than my Grannie'due south homemade recipe that she was known for ;)
12/02/2012
This was super easy...simply I tweeked it--Apply a roasted shop bought chicken, double the canned ingredients, and used 2 tubes of crescent roll dough; add together parsley and polutry seasoning to sense of taste...AWESOMELY Delicious!!! We'll be doing this one again!
05/25/2012
This was a great recipe, but I tweaked information technology in a handful of means. -I but used 32 oz of broth -I used two cans of foam of chicken, ane can of cheesy soup -I cubed the chicken, didn't shred -I used x oz, non 20, of biscuit dough, cut the biscuits into eights and that was plenty I too mashed some carmine potatoes in a dissever pot, salted and brindled to gustation then put them on the lesser of each dinner bowl and put the chicken and dumpling 'soup' on pinnacle. Mixed together it made for an extremely squeamish, thick, stew. Very hardy and very filling! I didn't put the mashed potatoes in with the mixture in the original pot simply b/c in that location wasn't enough room. If in that location had been, I would have. All in all, I similar my version meliorate and got rave reviews from the whole family!
01/06/2012
Made this for a friend at work how complains about everything he eats!! He wanted plain jane craven and dumplings. I like peas carrot onion and celery in mine but anyway fabricated the recipe and it turned out Neat!! so piece of cake and tasty. I used a whole chicken boiled information technology in ducth oven with the craven broth added foam of chicken and biscuit dough finished.
01/10/2012
This is delicious every bit is. I did add together carrots and celery. That's the only affair I inverse. I do like my chicken and dumplings thick so next time I volition add flour.
07/31/2011
Simple and succulent. I added just a touch of garlic and a little blackness pepper. It came out great.
05/07/2012
It was good. I had never had craven & dumplings before. Its soup not thick like gravy. I idea it was thick....but really had no idea. Use a big pan as the buscuits practise nifty and take upwardly room also the person who had the biscuits dodder together must've dumped the cut, stuck together group all in at in one case. Make sure each biscuit piece is put in on individually.
xi/09/2011
I couldn't believe how skilful this is.... I had a rotisserie chicken I wanted to apply and just happened to have the biscuits. I followed someone'due south suggestion and added frozen mixed veggies and used 1 can of foam of celery and ane can of cream of chicken. I added some thyme and black pepper. My husband loved it. I volition be using this with my left over chicken all wintertime.
01/08/2012
Thank you. I've been looking for an like shooting fish in a barrel recipe and this was IT! I added some carrots and peas. Both my husband and daughter were all, but licking the bowls. I've shared this link and my photograph on my Facebook and plenty more than plan to follow this recipe.

Here are changes that I fabricated that I recall make a huge difference. 1. About important: Don't cut the biscuits into quarters. This method creates dumplings that are besides thick and doughy. Instead, on a well-floured surface ringlet the biscuits to 1/eighth inch thickness (or until the flattened biscuit is nearly the size of your paw) and then cutting into strips. I utilize a pizza cutter for this part. Boil the strips for about 15 minutes. 2. Add the chicken carcass into the broth while you're prepping your other ingredients, then strain the broth before you add in the dumplings. Lower effort alternatives: add in a couple of bullion cubes and/or employ a microplane to grate in a clove of garlic - merely one! You desire a little season, but yous're not making garlic dumplings. I also like to pulverize a few teaspoons of poultry seasoning in a mortar/pestle and add that to the broth. Throw in a few sprigs of fresh thyme or rosemary if they're handy. Simply throw in the whole sprig and then fish it out before you melt the dumplings. 3. I prefer to utilize evaporated milk over the foam of chicken soup. It gives me more command over the last salt levels. You'll need well-nigh half a 13oz can + a bit more for #4. 4. Reserve some of the evaporated milk and utilize it to make a cornstarch slurry. Slowly add until broth reaches desired thickness. Information technology's nevertheless a really low endeavour recipe even with these changes. Rolling out the biscuits adds the most work, but it'due south and so worth it.
10/19/2014
I made this by cutting the chicken into 2" chunks and seasoning them with Slap Ya Mama cajun seasoning. I and so quick-browned them in bacon grease, and so followed the recipe as written. It was so good, I had rave reviews from everyone who tried it! This is definitely a go-to dish!
01/25/2012
LOVED IT!! So did my picky kids. I did sub cream of chicken soup, I was out of it, with cheddar cheese soup. It was awesome! It gave it a nice creamy cheesy taste, I will be using this one again and again!
10/xx/2011
I knock myself out making big dinners nigh every dark which usually rate betwixt three and four.5 stars. Tonight I turned to this 'super easy' recipe every bit I wanted to employ leftover chicken and needed something quick. Much to my chagrin, anybody rated this 1 five stars. I used one can of soup and ane jar of craven gravy as I did not have 2 cans of soup. I as well cooked diced carrots in the broth for a few minutes to soften, then added frozen peas and corn before calculation soup, etc. This is a neat one dish repast.
10/24/2014
Very tasty and super easy. Next time I will add together peas and celery. I also desire to try serving the 'soup' on top of already cooked biscuits, instead of making dumplings.
09/fifteen/2012
Like another reviewer, I am from the s and am used to my mom's homemade dumplings. Since this recipe uses biscuits, I simmered them about 40 minutes to get them as soft as possible. There is just no style a canned biscuit is going to taste exactly similar a dumpling. That being said, I am giving this recipe 5 stars because the biscuits are close plenty if cooked long enough, the family all said "yum!" and my kitchen counter was non covered in sticky flour after the cooking process! I fabricated a bag of frozen mixed veggies on the side then that everyone could cull whether to have their veggies on the side or mixed in. Will definately do this again!
09/16/2014
5 stars! I buy rotisserie chickens 2-3 at a fourth dimension at a major discount club, then shred the meat and parcel in ii cup portions in a zip top bag, and so freeze them flat to save space in the freezer. I tweaked it because I used AR's recipe for "Cream Soup Base," which makes 2 cans of condensed soup, and I added a chopped yellow squash, a chopped zucchini, and fresh mushrooms. The soup thickened upwards, and so I added the last 1/two cup of chicken stock that was left from my 16oz containers, and it's perfect for lunches tomorrow. Keeper!
09/13/2011
me, my husband and kids loved this. its super easy. thanks for sharing this great recipe! Im going to take my kids larn to arrive - they tin can do information technology because its so easy.
03/x/2015
This was OK the commencement time I fabricated information technology (following verbal) then, the 2nd time effectually, I tweaked it and that was much tastier! I sauteed an onion and a tablespoon of crushed garlic in some butter. Then added a loving cup of milk, 1 tsp parsley, 1 tsp Thyme and 1 tsp Sage. Simmered for a few minutes. Then I started this recipe as listed here. I also added a bag of frozen peas & carrots. For the dumplings, I used one tube of grands and cut them into eighths instead of quarters. Covered and simmered for 20 minutes stirring every 5...perfect! Much better with the added seasonings...
06/12/2012
Tastes slap-up and was easy. Use a big pot.
04/20/2012
good. sierra used onions and carrots instead of froz vegetable.
03/08/2012
I used frozen chicken chest, added a bunch of seasonings, and frozen peas. Information technology was delicious! Even the kids asked for seconds!
02/28/2012
Easy, quick, and awesome! Definitely adding this to my recipe box.
10/06/2014
Very good, although more like chicken & biscuits. I added a purse of frozen mixed veggies and used a few less biscuits pieces. My husband beloved information technology! This is a keeper.
08/20/2014
I made this for dinner tonight! I used tortilla'southward cut up, who would have idea. The tortilla's swelled up similar dumplings and were great!! I was very sceptable and geez was I wowed! I did add together a nuance of salt and pepper for gustation and a little garlic powder. Nosotros will definitely accept this once again!!Information technology was astonishing the stars would non let me rate it properly.
03/29/2012
This was a terrific recipe, my whole family loved it. I used butter flaky biscuits jumbo size (16 oz) which was awesome cause some of the layers fell autonomously and made some thinner dumplings. I also softened one chopped onion in a tbsp of butter then added the liquid and followed the recipe. I added a can of sliced carrots at the end of cooking fourth dimension and a couple dashes of black pepper. Very yummy, thanks for this one!
07/xviii/2014
I fabricated this last dark, and must say it was better than I thought information technology would be,and much amend than the picture being shown. I listened to the reviewers, and made a few changes like they did. 1can c.of celery/1can c.of chicken/ no wanter, added chic.broth instead.. I had about 6small boneless/skinless thighs, and they were very jucy,I added the onions/and cut upwardly celery on the bottom, and cut up the biscuits as suggested. It smelled just fabled while cooking, about 5hrs.on howdy;and 1/2hr.w/the biscuits. DH loved it alot, and I really liked it too. I would prefer having the chicken and gravy w/rice,and leave the biscuits out all together, just DH liked information technology so I'll just make some rice for me next fourth dimension. Thank you
05/25/2012
My Dad and I made this recipe...sort of. Instead of using canned broth, nosotros boiled craven breasts to employ in it and used the stock. We added the c. o. c. soup every bit directed. Another variation we used was, rather than biscuit dough, we used frozen dumplings. SO proficient!! It's not my Mom's CND, but in a way, it's just as good! Flossy and thicker than hers, and with the c. o. c. soup, VERY chicken-y, but not overly craven-y.
02/13/2012
No one in my family liked this. Information technology was very manifestly all we tasted was the cream of craven soup.
11/17/2011
This recipe was so easy and it tasted nifty. I was doubtful about the biscuit dumplings, but it ended upward tasting just similar my mom's! I've made this recipe well-nigh 3 times now in simply a few weeks time and the merely change I make is just adding a piffling flake of pepper. Delicious!
eleven/xxx/2014
My whole family loves this recipe. Information technology is astonishing that something so simple can be and so incredibly delicious! This is condolement nutrient at its best.
12/07/2011
This was really good and then easy. Even my 2 and half dozen year former loved information technology!
01/20/2013
I fabricated information technology exactly as the recipe said. My whole family unit loved it. I was a little afraid to try it but it was yummy.
11/25/2011
I simply attempted to make this recipe and have had no luck. I wouldn't say information technology's aweful, but its not practiced either. I did as the recipe suggested: 1 tin can each of cream of mushroom, foam of chicken, and craven broth, and chicken pieces. When I added the bits of biscuit, they took over the pot. I now have a pot completely filled with one giant biscuit. I tried adding some milk and stirring, but it did not do much. What did I practice wrong? Whatsoever suggestions?
12/18/2012
taste sooooo proficient dont hesitate to do this recipe
12/22/2011
It was so easy to make. I contradistinct it by adding ane - 2 Tbsp. of Lemon Pepper Seasoning, and 1 Tbsp of Garlic pulverization, just to give it added season.
11/06/2011
This recipe was good and like shooting fish in a barrel, but next fourth dimension I brand information technology I will be using low sodium foam of chicken soup and low sodium chicken goop. Information technology was VERY salty.
11/eighteen/2011
Loved how easy and delicious this was! I am a mother with a career, and I love these kinds of recipes that work for my schedule, that my 2 twelvemonth old also loves.
01/22/2012
I didn't make the exact recipe equally is (only used more broth and no foam of chicken; used canned chicken and then fresh carrots & celery). I mostly wanted to annotate on the dumpling idea. GENIUS! My husband said they were a piffling slimey to him, though he liked the soup very much and they still tasted similar old-fashioned dumplings to me. I was looking for something fast, and all of the other dumpling soup recipes required hours. This was a breeze! Thank you for the idea!
06/15/2018
I always tweek recipes, this 1 was a skilful guide. Here's mine, altered to more my Southern taste: - Rotisserie chicken, deboned -Simply one Tin Cream of Chicken(or Cream of Mushroom is good too) -i box (about 4cups) Chicken STOCK (not broth!!) -one Can of biscuits, open up, flatten them, and cutting up. (I also like whipping up Bisquik driblet biscuits and but dropping them by the spoonful into the simmering broth.) I get a deep pot WITH a lid. I bring the chicken and the broth to a good simmer, add frozen veggies if I want, then drop the biscuits in. Stir gently, add more biscuits, and repeat til all biscuits are dropped. When done, reduce the heat. Keep the lid on the whole fourth dimension. Sea salt, pepper, and add a little teaspoon of butter if desired (I exercise.). You can add onion pulverisation, garlic pulverisation, whatever, if your heart desires. Voila! Dinner is served later about 30 minutes. Stripping the chicken takes the most time. Tip: Continue any biscuit stuff cold!! Also, Bisquick does best when y'all let information technology rest for a minute, afterwards whipping information technology upwards.
04/05/2015
This is practiced and super easy! I added a tin of carrots and can of peas. Yum!
01/27/2015
This recipe was cracking! Very little attempt with a big payoff at the end. I added minced garlic and black pepper to knock anybody'southward socks completely off!
08/22/2016
This is pretty good simply it did need some onion, salt/pepper, and celery to brand information technology less bland. When I fabricated information technology over again, I used one can of cream of celery soup instead of ane of the cream of chicken because my married man isn't a huge fan of celery. I besides added onion. I boiled boneless, skinless chicken breasts in the goop, when the craven was done, I shredded information technology, added information technology dorsum to the broth, added the soups, onion, and biscuits. I did find that the biscuits are way too big if you use Grands biscuits and if you don't cut them really small.
01/26/2013
very good. I added egg noodles to it for my wife and she and the kids loved it
10/30/2017
This is the best chicken and dumplings I've ever made. I didn't accept any cream of craven soup I just used a niggling corn starch slurry and it turned out perfect. Definitely a keeper!!!
01/27/2013
Didn't find recipe until I had put the rotis. chicken in water so added craven boullion cubes to make the craven broth, added 2 cans of cream of chicken soup and cheaper biscuits cut in i/ii. Added some chicken gravy flour mix to thicken. Would add canned peas and carrots (drained) for some veges. Hubby loved the gravy and we even so have homemade vege. soup in fridge so didn't desire to add a lot of veges this time. Tastes great!!!
10/26/2013
This was so easy and yummy! I had to sub frozen buttermilk biscuits because I didn't have canned. I thawed them and quartered them before putting in the mixture. I idea my hubby was going to cry considering he said it tasted just like his mother'due south recipe. She is now deceased and then information technology was very special. This is a great weeknight recipe- not special enough to serve to company but really tasty and like shooting fish in a barrel!
01/xviii/2015
This was so quick and like shooting fish in a barrel. Whole family loved it. The kids gobbled it up. Simply affair I did differently was add picayune garlic powder, onion powder and pepper to broth.
10/28/2011
I gave this recipe 4 starts because I had to "brand do" with what ingredients I had at abode. I thought I had canned biscuits when I started cooking merely I didn't so I used flour tortillas. I also simply used the stock I had left over from cooking my chicken instead of canned chicken broth. I added some onion pulverisation and some rosemary herb seasoning mix I had on hand. Other than those changes, I followed the recipe and it was delicious! My husband loved it too. You couldn't tell the "dumplings" weren't bootleg. Very good. Information technology's a keeper!
x/27/2018
It is great easy and my family loves information technology. Thank you.
03/06/2013
Very easy and yummy :-) I either didn't measure my goop right or we just preferred more because I did add some extra h2o at the end. I used non-MSG bouillon cubes instead of a prepared liquid broth. I did find this dish rather salty and I typically add salt to everything, simply information technology could only exist a preference affair.
12/04/2018
Easy to make and gustatory modality bully with the biscuits I used the frozen pilsbury biscuit and let them thraw out wonderful
04/07/2017
My family loves this, but I kick it upwardly a petty with some canned sliced carrots, rosemary, garlic common salt, and fresh ground black pepper.
12/eighteen/2018
I would definitely make it again, I added carrots, celery and frozen peas and used chicken thighs instead of breast because information technology'due south what I had on hand. The biscuit dumplings just would not cook upwardly correctly, they were awful, but the soup was really skilful. Next fourth dimension it'southward just the soup and probably back to bisquick dumplings.
07/22/2019
Fabulous and very easy.
08/22/2019
Super easy, but like the title says!! :) Came out succulent!
09/xvi/2018
i employ both cubs instead
02/04/2018
I've made this multiple times and have loved information technology! Wonder what information technology would taste like if I swapped ane of the foam of chickens for either cream of onion or cream of mushrooms???
02/03/2019
I boiled the chicken first than shredded and put it soo in the crock pot with the biscuits but it was very thick just delicious
10/23/2018
My family adds celery, chopped boiled eggs, and a good amount of blackness pepper.
09/twenty/2011
I did non make this myself but provided the recipe for a co-worker, who fabricated this for a family gathering. She indicated 5 stars! Everyone loved it and she said it was super fast and like shooting fish in a barrel to put together, with craven cooked can exist put on the table in under 30 minutes. I am looking forward to trying information technology myself this calendar week!
01/03/2014
So easy and delicious! This is perfect condolement nutrient.
01/19/2016
Loved it! Used frozen veggies, and it still came out great.
02/26/2019
I've been wanting some chicken and dumplings but didn't desire to brand the dumplings from scratch. I just don't have fourth dimension for that. This was so easy and delicious! I made it exactly the way the recipe is except doubled up so nosotros could have leftovers!
03/29/2019
like shooting fish in a barrel and good-i e'er add butter and English Peas (Frozen} to it --Honey information technology!
08/16/2019
Super like shooting fish in a barrel every 1 loved it was a bit of biscuits but sick tweak next time to my preference!
11/01/2019
I made it came out bully, used pillsbury original canned biscuits. I boiled leg quarters. Came out and then good. Added pepper, onion and garlic pulverization.
05/06/2019
This is the stove pinnacle version of our favorite slow cooker recipe. I add Vidalia onion to the chicken while it cooks as well. It'south Sooooo Goooood!!!!!
12/26/2021
It's amazing! Had to Melt the biscuits a petty bit longer due to the pot I was using just 100000000000/10 new favorite recipe.
12/03/2019
So succulent. Ane tip, quarter and cook the biscuits, then insert into soup and craven mix.
12/29/2016
I made added frozen veggies to arrive more rounded, merely it was a striking with the kids.
11/22/2015
Then piece of cake and my kids loved it! I keep rotisserie chicken in the freezer so that makes it even faster. I used a little less broth than the recipe called for simply mostly because my pan wouldn't hold it all. I added some seasoning as it was otherwise a little bland for our gustatory modality. Some dried fourth dimension, a little shake of garlic salt and about 1/2 tsp of regular table salt and that livened it upwards a lot. If you have chicken in the freezer, this is an easy week-night supper.
11/18/2017
Super easy! Doesn't take long to make! Cheap! Sooo succulent!
x/08/2011
Easy and Wonderfull!
02/12/2013
This was my commencement attempt at craven and dumplings...and it turned out groovy. It was super like shooting fish in a barrel to make and my picky hubby and girl asked for seconds :)
11/18/2019
My husband has been wanting me to make chicken and dumplings for a while now, so I finally decided to give it a become. Well! Information technology went down a treat! I'll probably use more goop to the biscuits next time, and although I have to make a roux to replace the soup (we're lactose intolerant), it doesn't add together too much to the time to brand. Hint: y'all might to cut the biscuit dough into eights to get a better-cooked biscuit before too much soup is soaked upward.
05/02/2020
Turned out corking tasting!!
06/09/2019
Ive been making this for years in my slow cooker I cut up the grands in a cross to brand 4 each biscuit so the dumplings dont get too large. Too you lot can roll them lightly to tighten them of you prefer a tighter dumping.
12/24/2018
I made the dumpling portion of the recipe using homemade stock, craven, carrots, onion, and celery. I had 'butter tasting' frozen biscuits on hand and they worked great! I did thaw them and then rolled them out to about 1/8" with plenty of flour before cutting them into ribbons with a pizza cutter. They were washed in almost 12 minutes. Turned out great!
xi/fourteen/2017
Turned out great!!! So yummy.
12/02/2019
only added a bag of frozen peas and carrots, just everything else, the same
06/01/2016
I honey this I brand oft but boiled chicken chest in 2 foam of chicken and 1 cream of mushroom three cups craven goop add together can of veg all and add potatoes and seasoning information technology and also sprinkle parsley on biscuits before I put in to boil turns out awesome everything.
12/18/2020
I only used i can of foam of chicken, I love chicken and dumplings so this was a quick recipe to whip upward the kids. And oh, I served corn on the cob with information technology ?? thank you alot.
07/01/2021
It was good fast and coming from someone who doesn't like boiled craven (I used rotisserie chicken when I made it) this was so much better and then the original from scrap recipe.
11/24/2020

Very good and piece of cake to make. I added some mixed vegetables. This was a bit on the salty side, just that may accept been from the seasoning I added to the h2o while I was humid the chicken. Volition definitely brand again!
02/03/2018
i made this tonight it was the flop. The only matter I did was instead of using salt and pepper I used 21 Salute from Trader Joe's when I was cooking my craven breast and used the goop they were cooking in. I had to double mine for guests and they loved it. This my first effort at making dumplings. I will make this again.
10/24/2017
It was delicious, particularly the leftovers the solar day later on. I did not have any maple syrup so I used caramel instead. I spread the cream cheese on the bread and and so spread caramel dipping ontop of the bread cubes.
02/19/2018
This was a very tasty and quick meal after grocery shopping and me picking upwardly a rotisserie craven . I added ii cups of water and used two 12oz cans of biscuits. I will make over again.
01/11/2019
It turned out really good. The whole family ate information technology right upwardly. My normal chicken and dumplings I always have left overs. None this time!!
